The meetings industry includes about 400,000 professionals who are loosely connected by more than 30 organizations. A wealth of information is collected by these associations, but access to the data is often limited to use by members or is only accessible to the most adroit Internet researchers. Web 2.0 resources are growing but frequently are restricted to subscribers or users of more advanced technologies that are not yet commonly deployed in a way that enables open collaboration.
More open resources are needed now. Meeting professionals are being called on to provide a return on their event investment (ROI), and they are being asked to do it with shrinking budgets and smaller staffs. The solution lies in social media and the development of a truly open community portal for the meetings industry.
This is the inspiration that led to the creation of The Meetings Collaborative.

Our site includes listings for 1,200 hotels listed in 33 major North American meetings markets. We will also list 1,100 meeting-related technologiesorganized in 44 categories. Registered users are invited to share comments on these properties and technologies based on their experience with groups. All reviews use multiple criteria to render an overall rating, which is based on a 1-5 scale. Unlimited comment space is provided.
