When this hotel first opened, I booked a number of meetings here because I thought the opening GM was one of the best in the business. Clients liked this hotel - the location, space, service and amenities. Over the years since it's been open, I've stayed here while attending other meetings and have always found it to be an excellent hotel.

So what are the little things? The current GM is a good guy. It all starts there, doesn't it? He seems to enjoy his job and care about the property and his internal and external employees.

I was on a high floor and had been upgraded to a lovely suite with views of the city, the river and the lake. It was quiet except for some city noise; I live in a city and so it didn't bother me.

Food from room service was prompt; buffet breakfast was excellent as was the service. In fact, I was a few minutes late to meet a colleague who must have described me to the servers who found me as I walked in. Nice!

The little things: had some internet access problems on arrival and was able to get help to come to my room immediately. They have laundry service available pretty much 24 hours a day (more expensive over night or for quick service but it's still available.) The gift shop is a good one - with many items one may have forgotten (or had thrown out at the airport), newspapers, books, magazines. They also carry cool kids' stuff - books, toys, games, creative stuff. They carry great reading glasses for we who need a new pair often!

The front desk staff, even during a massive check in, is excellent and never seemed rattled.

The business center could be better. It appeared that only one person was there to staff it and he was a bit cranky. I don't blame him! It looks like he didn't have a soul to 'spell' him. That can be corrected.

The meeting was at Navy Pier - and I confess it's not one of my favorite venues. Everything is a LONG walk and not an easy one. Getting a cab FROM there is a nightmare. (At the Sheraton, on a rainy, windy morning, the doorman went INTO the street and the rain to get cabs for all of us waiting. THAT's service!)

I'd absolutely look at this hotel for a meeting - and was pleased to see the number of meetings held here during my stay including meetings w/ exhibits.

Try it!
