Will we boycott Utah ...

..and California, and Arizona, and perhaps Arkansas too as destinations for meeting?

The consideration of a Utah boycott has begun. On this web site is more information.

What about companies and organizations that have bylaws and policies of non-discrimination?  How will they treat these states? Isn't this also a matter of social responsibility?

In my opinion - reflecting only mine and not that of the owners or operators of Meetings Collaborative - it is time to seriously look at human rights in the United States.  Our country did a great injustice to hundreds of thousands (millions?) of human beings in this election.  Our industry has the ability to make a difference.  Will we?

To boycott Utah for meetings and tourism in Utah related to making a statement to the LDS Church which is headquartered in Salt Lake City is to the ruination of the very people, I speak for those of us who have persevered over the decades selling and servicing meetings and tourists in Utah who are supporters of gay rights, who are a vocal minority on behalf of Gay Rights. I personally work vigorously each year to support and elect candidates who are non-discriminatory.
Are you aware that there are more openly gay legislators in Utah than in the California legislature?
When Proposition 8's change to the California constitution is taken to the Supreme Court, it will not stand because we have already determined in the highest court of our land that separate but equal does not stand in our Democracy.
Suffrage, Black rights and now Gay rights will emerge triumphant.

Good point! It falls under business ethics. Some companies won't work with tobacco companies. I don't know if we can as an international association (international cultural mores and all), but in the US maybe we can/should make a stand.
