Lessons learned

Have you been watching the Democratic National Convention? Read anything about it in print or on the web?  Talked with colleagues who are there - either as delegates, guests, demonstrators, or volunteers?

Did you watch the Olympics and follow what went on .. beyond sports?  Did you watch to see how crowds were handled?

Both events - and next week's GOP convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul - are all superb examples of how cities deal with major events.

As meeting professionals, we get a bit focused in the events we do and forget that there are lessons to be learned every day - from the major (Olympics and political conventions) to the minor (watching service levels and seating at restuarants.)

What did you learn from the DNC and the Olympics? What, as a result of watching those, will you look for at the GOP Convention next week?

Write - here or for yourself - some take-aways you will remember and perhaps use at one of your meetings.

I'll write mine later - I know I'm learning so much...and certainly about security.
