How responsible are you?

ASAE (The American Society of Assn. Executives) & The Center for Assn. Leadership will convene a Global Summit on corporate social responsibility (CSR), and in particular, about how associations are or are becoming or plan to become socially responsible.
Much of the conversation about corporate social responsibility has been about environmental issues. It is much more than that.
The diverse audience who will gather face to face at the Gaylord National and those who will join with others and with those of us gathered at the Hotel will explore the issues raised prior to the event and while we are together. The diversity of the audience, our backgrounds, interests, experiences and ideas will contribute to what I hope will be an ongoing conversation, one that will long outlive the Summit.
As I've read the posts from participants, explored the resources available, I found one from IHG - InterContinental Hotels Group - that intrigued me and should be shared: http://www.asaecenter.org/GlobalSummit
We each have a responsibility to others and to our planet. It would be interesting to see how many planners begin to ask, in their RFPs, for the CSR of the destinations and hotels and other venues and vendors to whom they are sending RFPs. Just as we've asked about risk management issues and now ask about environmental/green issues, should not we take this to the next step?
If you are physically or virtually attending the Summit find me before or during. Post along with me here as we explore together how we can make a difference.
