Better than cold calls: smart marketing

Posted by: JoanEisenstodt in MarketingFood Catering on

I've been a participant and a trainer at a number of meetings at this hotel.  Each quarter they send out a superb 'marketing' email - not the usual update on what's new and fabulous tho' you can get it there.  And I don't think I've received any cold calls from them - THANK goodness! - and yet, they are in my mind often since I've used some of the "tools" they've sent.

Recipes!  Always recipes that their chef develops and they send to customers and prospects.  Brilliant!  They are easily used and sent on (see below tho' w/o the photo) and are yummy and fun AND by asking for feedback after you've made it, you're building a relationship with the property and esp. w/ the chef.  BRAVO! to Saddlebrook Resort for getting it.

What are some other brilliant marketing ideas you've seen .. or recipes you've received from properties that are easily adapted for home use?

trawberry-Mascarpone Dessert Pizza

Crust: In a medium mixing bowl combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in margarine or butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press firmly into a 10-inch baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until light brown. Cool completely.

Just before serving, in a mixing bowl beat whipping cream with an electric mixer on low speed until soft peaks form. Add mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and lemon peel. Beat until fluffy.

Spread cheese mixture on top of cooked crust. Top with strawberries and blackberries. Serve immediately or refrigerate and serve later.

Serves 8 - 10

Enjoy this dish with family and friends and let me know how it turns out.

Cordially,

A real estate broker in our area does the same thing. Not only do we keep them, but "Georgie's chicken" (named after the realtor) is a regular on our menu. This is a fabulous idea!
