Hotel Monaco: Heart of downtown, best sweeping views of city

While boutique in nature, the professionalism of the hotel staff on all fronts is first rate. The Bambara Restaurant in the northeast corner of the hotel is beautiful in its decor and memorable in its menu and cuisine, including a fabulous private room.
The function space on the second floor was suitable for our day long meeting, good catering, well managed and maintained, AV is satisfactory.
The hotel rooms are well appointed and the corner one bedroom suites are particularly well laid out with fabulous views of downtown and the mountains that encircle Salt Lake City. The single bedrooms are small but again the colorful decor and attention to every detail makes them a pleasureful experience.
Meeting other guests of the hotel during the wine & massage hour each early evening is a plus!

Little America Hotel Salt Lake City: Hotel, Salt Palace and Salt Lake are ok - not grea

The meeting was held at the Salt Palace, the Salt Lake City Convention Center. I stayed at the Little America Hotel and think it, Salt Lake, and the Center deserve rating for those considering the destination.

Salt Lake is gorgeous - the surrounding mountains, still very snow-capped in late June ('08), were magnificent to behold.

The Little America Hotel is ok - not fabulous but ok. What I liked about it: a really nice "coffee shop" that, on Sunday when I arrived in the afternoon, gave the option of breakfast or lunch. I had one of THE best cobb salads I've ever had and even the requested plain olive oil and Balsamic vinegar on the side as requested.

My room was comfortable - which for me means good HVAC (esp. on 95+ degree days)although the decor was interesting. Hard to describe - but a bit dated in decor.

Internet access was not so good. It was slow.

The Salt Palace, where I've presented before, is ok but seems a bit dated as well. Service was slow - rooms not being refreshed after or between sessions until RIGHT before the next session started and even then, it was spotty.

The worst part: transportation. When I exited the airport on Sun. there were only 2 taxis. At the Little America, and at the Radisson at which I tried to get a cab back to the Little America after presenting at the Center, NONE. No really - none. There is a car service that is used and they are sometimes available but not always. That was frustrating.

Overall, I gave the hotel, Center, and city a 3. I'd be very cautious in bringing a group to Salt Lake.

8/6/2007 The quality of this hotel was outstanding but the service was even more amazing. The GM of the hotel was always checking in on us too. In 20 years I have only seen that one other time. I am not sure we can top the event we just had at Grand America. We did book another meeting with this hotel later this year. FANTASTIC!
