Sanctuary at Kiawah Island: The Sanctuary at Kiaway Island

This hotel is a relatively unknown gem (except to the meetings industry) tucked away on Kiawah Island, a lush, manicured resort with superb golf and other outdoor activity opportunities. My group, from all over the U.S., was unfamiliar with and blown away by Kiawah and The Sanctuary. Public space is spectacular. Food is beautifully prepared and served, both in restaurants and catering. Guestrooms are oversized and lovely, but there are very few VIP suites and most rooms have an angular view of the ocean. Not a dealbreaker though. Not a whole lot of meeting space. Not appropriate for large-scale corporate meetings with lots of production and breakouts. We had a great "Legend of Bagger Vance" golf-themed event in one of the golf clubhouses. All staff great. Some very small service issues such as bellman luggage handling and housekeeping, but overall an excellent experience and worth the 45 minute drive from Charleston (another gem in this Low Country area).
