Two fold response: With respect to site selection and air lift - since we are/have a full service air operation we are constantly looking at lift and fare when considering a destination. When we present back the prelim budget with est. air, lodging, F&B and other associated costs the cleint can more easily make the "right decsion". The other benefit is that procurement and compliance can more easily approve destination variances since they have comparable numbers for all locations being considered.

With respect to the new fees for airlines, we have had to clarify with our clients regarding charges for items such as checked baggage fee, golf clubs, etc. Basically, our clients are telling their employees to carry on what they can and to avoid the checked fee unless of course you are traveling for an extended period and your luggage will not fit on the plane. Items like golf clubs are only covered for incentives but not for any other meeting type. I did recently hear about someone bringing their own data projector so they carried it on the plane but checked their luggage. The checked luggage cost $30 but the rental of the projector for 3 days was much more so the company paid the luggage fee b/c it was still less.
