I collect more than 50 data points for each RFP that is sent to a hotel and all the data is rolled up quarterly for internal and client usage. One of the trends that I have seen is the slow but steady reduction in our average room rates for the past three quarters (Q4, 2007, Q1 and Q2 2008). Before labeling this a “trend” I reviewed the number of bookings, hotel types booked and room nights booked and all are very consistent so my conclusion is that rates are slowly coming down.

Entering Q4 2007 the average rate was $215.07 and today (3 quarters later) the average rate is down to $201.53 which is just under a 7% decrease.

Is anyone else seeing this trend or do you think this is not really a trend at all?
