I saw this today in the summary from bizjournals.com -
http://washington.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/2008/05/12/story3.html?f=et185&b=1210564800^1632483&ana=e_vert
and wondered, when destinations and sites are selected, how much it matters who's in charge.

Many of us book meetings (esp. those in convention centers) so far out - for some 10 or 15 years in advance of the meeting - that we might not know who will be in charge when we get there. Sheesh, we don't even know if the property will even be there or under whose flag it will operate or who will own it.

In the case of the DC Center, I am sad to see Reba Pittman Walker leave. She has been a strong advocate for our industry and for education in our industry. She is a role model for women and for so many reasons she will be missed.

Do others watch for a pattern among the facilities they book? If there are women and minorities at the top? If there is high turnover in staff at all levels?

I wonder.
