A recent discussion in another industry forum has been about surcharges - tongues firmly planted in cheeks, people have added their own ideas for what airlines can charge - in addition to the meals, better seating, extra bags, and now window or aisle seats.
Hotels continue to add surcharges to what we pay - the "resort fee" for all the amenities we thought were ours to use; the "hotel fee" for the 'free water' in your room or the newspaper at your door or use of the spa you never see bec. you are there on busn.
Saw an article today in USAToday about new fuel surcharges ..which the airlines have to do to cover their costs and even then they aren't.
How come we all know what it costs to live and yet expect hotels, resorts, and airlines to 'eat the costs' of labor, fuel, etc., by not raising the base prices?
Would you rather pay a low price and than add on all the other charges or one higher price?
